Greenhouse gas emission reduction:
Abidjan airport has achieved carbon accreditation level 2

The Abidjan airport has achieved level 2. As a key stakeholder in the planning and development of Côte d’Ivoire in the West African subregion, AERIA aims at becoming a reference in environmental protection.

For the year 2016, AERIA is committed to an accounting process and reduction of greenhouse gas. Indeed, after obtaining last year the level 1 carbon accreditation, Abidjan airport achieved the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 17%. It should be noted that according to the carbon management policy and energy efficiency of AERIA, the objective set for 2018 is a reduction by 15%. The airport is proud for the achievement of this objective which has been even outperformed.

The long-term objective is to become “carbon neutral”, an ambitious vision which starts with the reduction of CO2 emissions, optimization and the use of renewable energy. This level 2 carbon accreditation shows the performance of the environment management system of AERIA.

In Africa, only three (3) airports including Abidjan Félix Houphouet-Boigny International airport have achieved the carbon emission phase. It is important to emphasize that this award won by the Abidjan airport was possible thanks to the vision of General Abdoulaye Coulibaly, chairman of the Board of Directors of AERIA and the Managing Director, Gilles DARRIAU.

Abidjan Félix Houphouet-Boigny International airport won the prize of the best airport safety improvement in Africa.

This prize “Safety Awards” awarded by ACI Africa to AERIA, the management company of Abidjan Félix Houphouet-Boigny International airport crowns the efforts made to strengthen safety within the airport of Abidjan.

As a reminder, The Abidjan Félix Houphouet-Boigny International airport was submitted to a security audit called APEX (Airport Excellence) organized by ACI World (association of all airports in the world) in May 2014.
